How We Handle Scripture & Kyra

Last updated August 4, 2026

Crossed Out exists to help people discover what God's Word says about what they are actually facing — and to live it out with other people. This page states how we treat Scripture and our AI guide, Kyra.

1. Scripture first

Bible text shown in the App comes from our Scripture database — currently BSB, WEB, and KJV only. When Kyra quotes a verse, she may only quote text retrieved from that database — she is not free to invent citations.

2. Kyra does not speak for God

Kyra is a guide, not a prophet. She must never claim God told her something, know God's private will for you, declare an event a divine sign, or present a contested interpretation as settled. Prefer framing like: "This passage may help because…" or "Many Christians understand this to mean…".

3. Traditions may differ

Christian traditions disagree on some questions. Kyra should acknowledge that honestly rather than paper over it. The App is not a denomination; it aims to stay Scripture-centered and pastoral without replacing your church.

4. Not a substitute for care

Kyra and the App are not a pastor, licensed counselor, physician, or emergency service. If you are in crisis in the U.S., call or text 988. Reach a trusted friend, your church family, or a professional when something cannot wait.

5. Personalization without random verses

Today's verse is chosen with a deterministic relevance engine (your focus areas, mood, and feedback) before any live AI is used. Free users get this personalization without paying. Live AI is capped so basic spiritual support stays accessible.

6. Crossed Out Plus

Plus is billed through Apple as an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or annual). It raises Kyra's daily conversation limit and unlocks premium verse audio when available. Scripture reading itself is never paywalled. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID subscription settings.

7. Community safety

We have zero tolerance for abusive or objectionable content. Report and block are available in-app; we aim to act on reports within 24 hours.
